Alexander the Great's Reign of Egypt (Full Episode) | Lost Treasures of Egypt | Nat Geo

This is content of unknown duration. The film centers on Alexander the Great's rule in Egypt, blending historical narrative with archaeological evidence, making it a worthwhile watch for both its pacing and visual quality. Alexander entered Egypt in 332 BCE and was hailed as pharaoh, establishing the city of Alexandria—a fusion of Greek and Egyptian civilization. The documentary reconstructs how this legendary ruler secured his power base along the Nile and how the Hellenistic world was born in the region after his death, drawing on three dimensions: archaeological sites, ancient texts, and modern scholarship. The core appeal lies in juxtaposing military conquest with cultural synthesis—Greek philosophy, Egyptian religion, and Mediterranean trade networks converge here, ultimately giving rise to one of the most influential intellectual centers of the classical era. The director alternates between on-location filming and digital reconstruction, layering ruins against historical scenes for a powerful visual impact. This documentary is recommended for viewers interested in ancient history, cross-civilizational encounters, or documentaries in general. It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the broad outline of Alexander's eastern campaigns beforehand to better understand his historical significance in Egypt.
