3 Hours Of The Roman Empire With Mary Beard

The total duration is approximately 3 hours, and it is recommended to watch it in segments. This series is hosted by the British classicist Mary Beard, who guides viewers through four centuries as they trace the evolution of Rome from a small city-state on the banks of the Tiber River into a vast empire spanning three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. The film delves into the rise of Rome, covering political and military aspects, economic and trade developments, and the transformation of social systems, offering a compelling narrative and high-quality visuals. The key highlights include challenging the "great man" theory of history and presenting the true situations of ordinary citizens, slaves, and women, as well as revealing the institutional innovations and cultural integration behind the empire. It is suitable for history enthusiasts interested in ancient history, students, and anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of Roman civilization.
